The voting process of the Newton Kansan Athletes of the Week for Week 4 of the winter sports season has opened.

This week’s nominees are:

Boys

Cole Dillon, junior, Newton High School, basketball. Scored 12 points in Newton loss to Andover.

Garrett Fielder, junior, Newton Homeschool, basketball. Scored six points in Panther loss to Smoky Valley Home Educators.

Clayton Considine, senior, Halstead High School, wrestling. Is 9-2 this season at 126 pounds.

Girls

Amaree Henderson, senior, Newton High School, basketball. Scored six points for Newton in loss to second-ranked Andover.

Chloe Hoelscher, freshman, Newton Homeschool, basketball. Scored nine points in loss to Smoky Valley Home Educators.

Sheyenne Pinkston, junior, Remington High School, wrestling. Is 12-3 this season at 125 pounds.

Voting is open until midnight Sunday and winners will be announced in the Jan. 11 Kansan.

Nominees are selected from results reported to the Kansan as well as culled from various sports statistics sites.

Coaches and administrators may suggest nominees by e-mailing cschnabel@cherryroad.com. Please include the athlete’s statistics for the week and a photo. Three boys and three girls will be selected as nominees each week.
