County commission to meet

The Board of County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Nov. 12 in the community room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main.

The commission, which also serves as the county election board, will canvass (certify) the 2024 general election before the commission’s regular business meeting.

A full agenda had not been released at press time.

Newton city commission to meet

The Newton city commission will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 for both a special meeting and regular meeting in Newton City Hall, 201 E. Sixth Street.

The special meeting, to start at 6 p.m., is the continuation of a hearing as the Board of Structure Appeals to review a decision of the Environmental Hearing Officer in regard to a property located at 225 Boyd.

The regular business meeting will begin at 7 p.m.. Agenda items include am interlocal agreement for Harvey County Economic Development Council funding, updates to snow routes, a municipal storm water permit, Quail Creek paving improvements, an update for a lead service line inventory and a period for public comment.

BOE to meet

The Newton USD 373 Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in the meeting room of McKinley Administrative Center, 308 E. First.

Agenda items include increasing adult breakfast meal prices, early graduation requests, a notice of federal interest, approval of a new ELL position, an addition to elementary programming, ELA novels for review, new course proposals, student activity admission, transportation software, a policy manual for Parents as Teachers, out of state contests and a period for public comment.
