HESSTON — The Hesston High School boys’ basketball team will have to rely on some new faces in the 2024-25 season.Garrett Roth begins his third season with the Swathers, where he is 43-5 in two seasons with a state title.Hesston was 18-4 last season, claiming a share of the Central Kansas League title at 8-1.
MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge High School girls’ basketball team will still be young, but will be a force to contend with in the Heart of America League.Kaleigh Huxman begins her fourth season as the Wildcat head coach, where she is 41-25.
With all five starters back from a Class 3A state runner-up squad, the Hesston Swathers have the potential for big things in the 2024-25 season.Matt Richardson begins his 18th season with the Swathers.
MOUNDRIDGE — While the two-time defending Class 2A state champion Moundridge Wildcat boys’ basketball team has a large hole to fill in its starting lineup, four other starters returning will look to mitigate that sting.The Wildcats graduated first-team All-Heart of America League and Class 2A All-State pick Kreighton Kanitz, the Class 2A player of the year last season.
ELBING — Berean Academy’s Kristin Wiebe returns for her 20th season as girls’ basketball coach.Wiebe is 358-91 in her career with the Warriors.The team finished 16-6 last season taking second in the Heart of America League at 8-1.
GOESSEL — The Goessel High School girls’ basketball team will look to fill some big shoes this season with the loss of four top players.Ryan Hoopes begins his 18th season as the Bluebirds’ head coach.Goessel was 16-7 last season, 8-2 in the Wheat State League.
BRAINERD — The Remington High School girls will rely on four returning starters to get the Broncos through the 2024-25 campaign.Ricky Snyder begins his third season with the Broncos.
SEDGWICK — It’s been 30 years since the Sedgwick High School boys’ basketball team has had a new coach.Gary Squires will assume that mantle when the 2024-25 season begins, replacing Darren Crumrine, who stepped down after last season.Squires spent 10 seasons at Wichita North, where he sent three teams to the state tournament and won the league title in 2012.
