For three quarters, it looked like the Dodge City girls’ basketball team was resigned to its 34th appearance in the Newton Invitational Tournament without a title. But the Red Demons came through in the fourth quarter with a 17-7 run to take down two-time defending champion Andover Central 48-40 Saturday in the championship game at Ravenscroft Gym.
The Newton High School girls’ basketball team has been looking for that complete game all season. After a 43-38 loss to Garden City in the fifth-place game of the Newton Invitational, that search continues.
