In what has been a promising season to this point for the Bethel College softball team, the Threshers stumbled against the University of Saint Mary Spires Tuesday in the conference opener at home. Bethel lost the first game 3-2 and the second game 9-0 in five innings on the eight-run rule.

WICHITA – The Bethel College men’s basketball team is returning to the big cathedral of college basketball in Kansas City, Mo., after stopping Saint Francis (Ind.) 78-66 Saturday night in the second round of the NAIA national tournament at the Garvey Center in Wichita.
MANHATTAN – A cold shooting night and getting outscored 20-10 was too much for the Berean Academy girls’ basketball team to overcome in a 44-37 loss to Smith Center in the third-place game of the Class 2A state tournament Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.
McPHERSON – The Bethel College softball team went 1-2 Sunday at the McPherson Tournament, falling to Mayville State 12-9 and Morningside 11-2 before stopping Mount Marty 6-5. Against Mount Marty, Bailea Crist doubled to lead off the bottom of the seventh.
HUTCHINSON – The Hesston High School boys’ basketball team won each quarter over the Hugoton Eagles by a few points, which added up to a 46-34 Swather win Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A state tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
