Central Kansas League Larned 23, Hesston 21 Hesston 15, Larned 8 HESSTON — The Hesston Swather softball team scored 36 runs in two games, resulting in a CKL split against Larned Tuesday in Hesston. Hesston lost the first game 23-21, but won the second game 15-8.

WELLINGTON – The Hesston High School golf team claimed a fourth-place team finish and a medal Thursday at the Wellington Invitational at the Wellington Country Club. Andover topped the field at 332, 17 strokes over Augusta.

The Newton High School softball team had a pitcher’s duel and a slugfest in an AV-CTL I doubleheader split against Derby Tuesday at Kelsch Field. Newton won the first game 2-0 as Tegan Livesay struck out 15, allowing a hit with two walks.
SALINA — The Newton High School boys’ golf team opened the season with a fifth-place finish Monday at the seven-team Salina Central Invitational at the Salina Municipal Golf Course. Topeka Seaman won the team title at 301, followed by Hutchinson at 328 and Salina South at 331.
It’s been a long time since the Newton High School girls’ soccer team showed the offensive fireworks demonstrated Tuesday in a 10-0 win over Arkansas City at Fischer Field. The game was ended with 23 seconds remaining on the 10-goal rule.
