The Newton High School baseball team finished the season on a mixed note, splitting an Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I doubleheader with Maize Friday at Klein-Scott Field. Newton won the first game 6-4, but lost the second game 15-3 in five innings on the 10-run rule.

Swathers third in 3-2-1A PRAIRIE VILLAGE – The Hesston High School boys’ tennis team ended the season with a third-place team finish and a pair of doubles medals at the Class 3-2-1A State Tournament at the Harmon Park Tennis Center in Prairie Village. Wichita Collegiate won the team title with 52 points.
