Dragons claim 3A baseball regional title
HALSTEAD — Class 3A baseball regionals can be taxing for most teams, especially for their pitching staffs. Playing three games in two days, the Halstead Dragons thrived under the pressure Monday and Tuesday at Riverside Park.
Remington wins 2-1A regional
VALLEY CENTER — The Remington Bronco baseball team won the Class 2-1A regional tournament Monday and Tuesday in Whitewater and Valley Center. Remington opened play Monday at home with a 4-2 win over Medicine Lodge.

Railer soccer squad falls to no. 2 Maize South
MAIZE — The Newton High School girls’ soccer team was able to generate a little attack, but ultimately not enough to hang with second-seeded Maize South in a 10-0 Railer loss Monday night in the semifinals of the Class 5A West Regional II in Maize.
Newton baseball team drops pitcher’s duel
MAIZE — The Newton High School baseball team had one of its top pitching performances of the season, but couldn’t move runners, falling to Valley Center 1-0 Tuesday in the Class 5A West Region 3 semifinals in Maize.
