WICHITA — The San Antonio Missions won the first half title of the Texas League South Division after three wins against the Wichita Wind Surge in weekend play at Riverfront Stadium. The Missions won 2-1 Sunday.

Work has begun on new fields and other improvements at Centennial Park, located off of Kansas Avenue on the northeast part of town. Work at Kenny Williams Field, named after the longtime Newton American Legion Baseball coach and manager, includes “new irrigation, backstop, dugouts, fencing, extended outfield and clay warning track.” Kenny Williams Field is the current home of the Newton High School junior varsity baseball team.
