LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas added an additional year to football coach Lance Leipold’s contract Thursday that will keep him on the sideline through the 2027 season, a reward for a twowin first year that raised hopes for a long-awaited turnaround.

The Kansan Staff McPHERSON — The Newton High School girls’ tennis team opened the season with a third-place finish Thursday at the eight-team McPherson Invitational. McPherson Red won the tournament with 56 points, followed by Goddard Eisenhower at 48 and Newton at 41.
