Penalty kick lifts Railers past Central
A Collin Hershberger penalty kick in the fifth minute was the sole score of the game as the Newton High School boys’ soccer team edged previously unbeaten Andover Central 1-0 Thursday in non-league play at Fischer Field. Newton got the penalty kick when a Newton player was taken down by the Jaguar keeper inside the box.

Threshers to host Ottawa in KCAC play
The Bethel College football team passed its toughest test to date with a 30-24 comeback win over then ninth-ranked (NAIA) Kansas Wesleyan last week. The now 14th-ranked Threshers will try to push forward at 6 p.m.
