Freshman stumbles to medal at Halstead Invitational
HALSTEAD – The finish of the Halstead Invitational cross country meet was nearly a disaster for Halstead freshman Addisen Wills. Wells nearly collapsed just a few feet from the finish line at the Wedgewood Golf Course, but she was able to get across the line to finish third in 19:49.23 for 5,000 meters without losing a place.

The Kansan Staff The Bethel College football team looks to make another step forward when the Threshers take on Bethany College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lindsborg.
Railer soccer squad tops Central
With the meat of the schedule coming up, the Newton High School boys’ soccer team’s 6-0 win over winless Salina Central was a change to give some players a well-deserved rest, while still improving the team’s goal differential, which is one of the tie-breakers for post-season seeding. Jonny Galvan scored a goal with three assists to lead the Railers.
