The Newton High School boys’ swimming team didn’t score a lot of points among its 13 members, but did show a lot of time cuts Thursday at the Newton Invitational II at the NHS Pool. It would have been senior night for the Railers, but the team has no seniors.

WICHITA (AP) — Jeremiah Davenport scored 22 points off of the bench to lead Cincinnati over Wichita State 70-61 on Thursday night. Davenport shot 8 for 12, including 6 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Bearcats (11-5).

WINFIELD — An 18-6 run in the final six minutes of play handed sixth-ranked (NAIA) Southwestern a 90-79 win over the Bethel College men’s basketball team Wednesday in KCAC play in Winfield. Bethel took a one-point lead on a Nick Bonner 3-pointer with 5:59 remaining, but quickly fell behind by six and never recovered.
