Railer boys fall to no. 4 Maize South

MAIZE — Between the poor shooting and the turnovers in the first half, the Newton High School boys’ basketball team couldn’t get much going against fourth-ranked (KBCA, Class 5A) Maize South, falling 71-36 Tuesday in AV-CTL I play in Maize. Newton had nine turnovers in the first quarter alone, three in the first minute, falling behind 6-0.

Defensive specialist sparks No. 2 Berean girls’ offense

Brueggen was the sole player in the game who reached double figures in scoring.
