The Newton High School boys’ wrestling team closed out the regular season with a pair of dominant Ark Valley- Chisholm Trail Division I dual meet wins Thursday at Ravenscroft Gym. Newton opened the night with its first perfect score in the 14-weight class era, downing Salina South 84-0.

HALSTEAD — The Halstead Dragon boys’ wrestling team finished fifth, while the Hesston Swathers were seventh Thursday at the Central Kansas League Championships in Halstead. Pratt won the league title with 134.5 points, followed by Haven at 115.5, Hoisington at 113.5, Smoky Valley at 110.5 and Halstead at 90.5.
The Bethel College women’s basketball team dropped its seventh in a row, falling to rival Tabor College 65-48 Wednesday in KCAC play at Thresher Gym. Bethel was outscored 20-8 from the free throw line.

After an upset loss and two narrow wins, the Bethel College men’s basketball team took care of business off the bat to down the rival Tabor College Bluejays 7657 Wednesday at Thresher Gym. The Threshers made a big run in each half to get the game under control.
