PARK CITY — The Bethel College men’s basketball team lost the scoring touch it has been showing the last two weeks, falling to Southwestern 83-74 Monday night in the finals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Post-Season Tournament at Hartman Arena. Bethel finished the game just 25 of 67 from the field, four of 17 from 3-point range.
EMPORIA — The Newton High School girls’ basketball team waited a little too long to get the scoring up and the turnovers down, falling to Emporia 56-37 Tuesday in the Class 5A sub-state semifinals in Emporia. As in the past two games, the Railers dug themselves too deep a hole to get out of.
Monday’s games Prep girls Class 3A sub-state Halstead 51, Kingman 44 HALSTEAD — The Halstead Dragon girls are off to the Class 3A sub-state semifinals after a 51-44 win over Kingman Monday night in Halstead. Halstead led 11-3 after the first quarter, 17-15 at the half and 33-31 after three quarters.
Monday is the first day, under Kansas State High School Activities Association rules that spring sports teams may begin practice to prepare for the upcoming season. Newton has seven spring teams that were able to begin practice on Monday.
