Swathers overcome obstacles for third title

HUTCHINSON — A new head coach, an almost entirely new varsity lineup and a strange loss in the season opener all did not foreshadow what was in store for the Hesston Swather boys’ basketball team. Twenty-five wins later and the Swathers sealed their destiny as a dynasty, stopping the Marysville Bulldogs 50-44 Saturday in the Class 3A state finals at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

HC football wins two HESSTON — The Hesston College women’s flag football team made its debut over the weekend, winning two of three games. The Larks opened play with a 39-6 win Friday over Fort Scott Community College in Jayhawk Conference play.
