Bethel golfers sixth at Jinx WINFIELD — The Bethel College golf team placed sixth Monday and Tuesday at the Jinx Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Ridge Golf Course. Central Christian topped the eight-team field with a team score of 889, followed by host Southwestern at 904, Friends at 945, Central Christian B at 950 and Bethel at 961.
McPHERSON — The Newton High School girls’ soccer team gave up a goal in the 76th minute, falling to Topeka 3-2 Tuesday morning in the consolation semifinals of the 17th McPherson Invitational at the McPherson High School field. Izzy Sandoval scored both of the Railer goals.
DODGE CITY — The Newton High School baseball team buried its opponents on old Boot Hill to open the season, claiming a pair of wins in a triangular in Dodge City. The Railers topped Salina Central 3-1 and host Dodge City 12-0.
