MAIZE — For the first time this season, the bats were completely silenced for the Newton High School baseball team, dropping a pair of games to Maize South Friday in Maize. Newton lost 13-1 in five innings on the 10run rule.
MANHATTAN — Both the Newton High School boys’ and girls’ track teams finished third Friday at the Manhattan Invitational. Manhattan won the girls’ team title at 138.5 points.
OTTAWA – The Bethel College women’s flag football team fell to Ottawa 39-0 Saturday in KCAC play in Ottawa. The game was called in the third quarter because of lightning.
