Short-handed Railers score late to win
With about six players out with injury, the Newton High School girls’ soccer team had to overcome some adversity in a 3-1 win over Campus-Clearwater Thursday in AV-CTL I play at Fischer Field. Newton scored twice in the final 4:32 of regulation to get the win.
Swather golfers third at home tourney
HESSTON — Facing a number of top squads from bigger schools, the Hesston High School golf team finished third out of 16 teams Thursday at the Hesston Invitational at the Hesston Golf Course. Maize South topped the field with a team score of 292.
