Funny how all manner of ultra-left strangeness in public schools seems to be sweeping the country with nary a ripple of protest, but if “Parents’Rights” is suggested it’s “controversial”. When Kansas legislature sends a Parents’ Rights bill to the governor’s desk it is vetoed.

From the hill: Answering a few questions

With the upcoming election just around the corner, I wanted to take the time to reach out with some brief responses to what I see are the most common questions and topics I am asked about. The goal of this correspondence is in no way to be definitive answers nor full explanations of these complex issues; however, I hope this can give clarity and add to the conversation around these topics.

Plains Folk: ‘Scottish Highlanders’

As noted in my previous column, I saw many different breeds of cattle on my recent tour of the central Scottish Highlands, even a few dairy breeds (but no Holsteins). But the only two I could identify with certainty were Angus and Highlanders. The former breed, Angus, or crosses with many other different breeds, are well represented on ranches in Kansas and the central plains, but Highlanders are somewhat of a rarity. My granddaughter, Josie, had three or four of them, but sold them a few months back. Other than that I don’t recall seeing any Highlanders in the Flint Hills.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Why this Republican won’t be voting for Schmidt or Kobach Like many Republicans, I am voting for Laura Kelly to serve as Governor and Chris Mann for Attorney General. Their opponents, Derek Schmidt and Kris Kobach have plans to try again to ban abortions and sue the Federal government rather than focus on Kansas priorities.

Vote no on amendments In the upcoming November 8 election, two amendments to the Kansas Constitution will be on the ballot for us to vote on. The first amendment on the ballot, if passed, affects the constitutional balance of power.
