Karen Jones, 85, passed away January 28, 2022. Arrangements are with Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, KS.

Gary L. Jones died January 28, 2022 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, KS. He was 88 years old and had been a resident there for over 3 years. Gary was born at Dexter, KS July 18, 1933 to Emory and Virgia Radcliff Jones. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Rowe on September 2, 1951. They were married over 70 years. Gary was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M University (now Oklahoma State University) and received his Master’s degree from Kansas State University. He served 2 years in the US Army following graduation from Oklahoma A&M. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Ford, KS and Peabody, KS for 36 years, 32 of those in Peabody. He loved farming, raising sheep and searching for antiques. He operated Mayesville Mercantile in downtown Peabody after retiring from teaching. He was predeceased by his parents Emory and Virgia Jones and sister Rosalie Jones Lanham. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Peabody, KS; son Mike Jones DVM and wife Tresa (Vogelman) of Seneca, KS; daughter Lynn Hughes and husband Marc of Carney, O;, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peabody Community Foundation, the Kansas FFA Foundation or a remembrance of your choice.
