Juliana “Julie” (Schmidt) Stucky, 87, died on September 2, 2022, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton, Kansas. She was born on June 1, 1935, in Goessel, Kansas, the birstborn daughter of John and Susie (Buller) Schmidt. Julie grew up with her eight siblings in rural Burns, Kansas, where she attended and graduated from Burns High School with the class of 1954. On June 18, 1954, Julie was united in marriage to Leland Stucky in Burns. They celebrated 68 beautiful years of marriage this year. Julie was employed by Hehr International as a foreman for 43 years before she retired. She was a devoted and faithful member of Meridian Baptist Church in Newton, where she volunteered in the church nursery for many years and was an AWANA leader for 30 years. She loved spending time with and getting to know all of the children. Julie enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. Julie is survived by her husband, Leland Stucky; daughters, Barbara (Dan) Rexroat of Rosehill and Diane (Daryl) Walter of Newton; brothers, John Schmidt of Loveland, Colorado, Calvin Schmidt of Moundridge, and Dennis Schmidt of North Newton; sisters, Emmy Midkiff of Spokane, Washington, Fern Goodwin of Burns, and Berneda Jewell of Manhattan; and 4 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren.
