Brian Skinner, a teacher from Newton USD 373 and the Harvey County Special Education Cooperative, has been awarded a fellowship from the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes in Fort Scott.
It’s not quite at the end of the road, but Bridge 21-L.3 is close, and due to some wash outs that have developed over the last several months the road now ends with a “bridge out” sign on Huggin Hollow Drive. Huggin Hollow Drive is about a mile long, serving one home along the stretch.
The last month or so has been busy for the Molina family as they opened a new restaurant on east First Street.
According to city staff a Pride Proclamation passed the city commission June 10th by the narrowest of possible margins and confusion for commissioners, proclamation requester, staff and others watching the process.

MOUNDRIDGE— The 21st Annual Black Kettle Festival and Car Show will be held on June 6 and 7.
Over the course of several meetings members of the county commission have been talking about a road project that might be shared between the city of Newton and Harvey County – a stretch of east first street from the city limits to Oliver Road, where the Newton City/County Airport lies.
