Kelly-Toland Administration Receives ‘Deal of the Year’ Accolade for GAF’s Expansion in Newton

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced on Monday that Kansas has received a 2024 Deal of the Year Impact Award from Business Facilities magazine in the Building Supply Manufacturing category. The award recognizes the planned commissioning of a new $300 million shingle plant in Newton by GAF, a Standards Industries company and North America’s largest manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing products.

Spider-Man swings into Newton

Over the last few months, a costumed crusader has been swinging through Newton, taking out vigilante justice on the crimes of juvenile depression and sadness. This crime fighter, dressed as New York’s Spider-Man, is a 21-year-old who calls himself Spider-Homie.
