‘Ready to Run’ set to launch

Newton mayor Rod Kreie and commissioner Leroy Koehn came up with an idea to help find stronger candidates for local offices – create a program that would educate would-be candidates about the offices to which they aspire.They recruited some help to create such a program, partnering with the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce and reaching across the political spectrum in addition to administrators from the city, county and school district to start creating a program is called “Ready to Run.”“Being an elected official is not easy,” said Rod Kreie, Newton mayor.

More work coming to Santa Fe 5/6

A recent bond issue to renovate Santa Fe school and gymnasium (also known as Lindley Hall) at the corner of Broadway and Pine Streets was completed earlier this year, and the project came in under budget.Newton USD 373 has, between unused funds and interest accrued on unused funds, somewhere around [$900,000] in the bank.
