Wichita school board suspends meeting

A Wichita school board meeting was suspended unexpectedly Monday after three new board members refused to wear face masks during the meeting. Diane Albert, Kathy Bond and Hazel Stabler, who were elected in November and started their terms Monday, sat at the board table without masks when a livestream of the meeting started.

LA cops pull pilot from plane moments before train hits it LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles police officers pulled an injured pilot from the wreckage of a small plane that crash landed on railroad tracks just moments before a commuter train smashed into the aircraft over the weekend. Bodycam video showed the officers working furiously Sunday afternoon to disentangle the bloodied pilot from the cockpit of the crumpled Cessna 172.

City, Hope Home Repair to part ways

For decades Hope Home Repair assisted low income home owners with repairs to their homes. Since 2011 Hope Home Repair has worked in conjunction with the City of Newton, utilizing Community Development Block Grant funding to assist with home repairs — issuing low or no interest loans to some homeowners to assist with repairs like new windows, heating and air systems, water heaters and roofs for homeowners with an income of $14,000 a year.
