Unique monument coming to Augusta
Augusta is set to become the first place in the nation to host a monument for the Space Force, a military wing created by the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act under president Donald Trump. A plan by Augusta’s Leonard Whitehill American Legion Post 189 to build a Memorial Monument for all those served—a place for people to come and visit and reflect on the sacrifices of those that have given all for the rights and freedoms enjoyed in this country.

Kansas Profile: Built from scratch in Kansas
A pedestrian bridge is being installed in a southeast Kansas park. This project did not involve any supply chain issues, because this bridge didn’t come on a slow boat from somewhere. This 60 foot long bridge was built from scratch and installed by a craftsman in rural Kansas.

County escapes much of wild fire damage
The Cottonwood Complex Fire, a wild fire that started in Reno County on March 5 bleeding into Harvey County and forcing evacuations, continues to smolder. In Reno County, fire officials estimated the fire was about 70 percent contained Monday - one day after a rain/ice/ snow storm moved through the area.
KDHE, revenue department to waive fees for victims of latest wildfires
TOPEKA — Gov. Laura Kelly instructed two state agencies Tuesday to relieve the fee-payment burden of residents of Reno and Harvey counties impacted by the state’s latest wildfires.
