Citzens State Bank adds loan officers.

Ryan Busenitz has joined The Citizens State Bank as an agricultural loan officer. A crop farmer, who also assists in a cow/calf operation, Busenitz and his wife, Rachelle have three children, Zoe, 11, Shawn, 9 and Kyrie, 7. He is a Moundridge native who now resides in McPherson. His office will be at the bank’s Moundridge location. Bret Toews is a new agricultural loan officer at The Citizens State Bank Canton branch.

Kansas recounted 550,000 ballots after the abortion amendment lost. Only about 60 votes changed

The Kansas secretary of state’s office said a recount of the abortion amendment vote in nine counties only changed about 60 votes. The final numbers on the recount published by the secretary of state’s office show the hand recount of 556,364 votes in nine counties increased votes in favor of the amendment by six and reduced the votes against the amendment by 57.

City approves mill levy increase

Stephen Owens chose to address the Newton City Commission on Aug. 23 not as a state legislator, but as a property owner in the city of Newton. He wanted to voice his concern over a proposed tax increase by the city of Newton and he chose to address the commission during the city’s first “Revenue Neutral Rate” hearing.
