Lions Club seeks Halloween Walk partners Newton Lions Club is seeking participants to give candy during the 28th annual Halloween Walk in downtown Newton. Businesses, clubs, churches, nonprofits and school groups are encouraged to participate.
Byron and Susan Schrag wanted to create vacation spot on their property on SE 96th - a place that was just the right amount of secluded for a getaway but close enough to a nearby wedding venue to generate traffic. They wanted to do something different, and they were able to do just that. A true tree house was constructed. “It is really, really unique,” Byron Schrag said. The Schrags enlisted a little help for the project - contacting one of the producers of “Tree House Masters,” a television show about Nelson Treehouse Company.
Following a two-week delay to allow for county administration to review a wage study, and for commissioners to mull over a proposed change to the county attorney’s budget, the commission voted 3-0 to pass the 2023 Harvey County Budget.
