‘Summer Daze’ mural to be installed, dedicated

Youngsters at the Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival had a hand in creating the latest mural installed by the Newton Murals Project, a pair of murals featuring buffalo created during the festival. “We have two [four foot by eight foot] murals that were created at Summer Daze by about 35 people, most of them under 10 years of age,” said Constance Gehring of the Newton Murals Project. “The murals feature buffalo moving towards the west.”

Special to the Kansan The Newton - North Newton Area Planning Commission met on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. The Commissioners reviewed or took action on the following projects: Preliminary Plat for the Fox Ridge Addition A Preliminary Plat for Fox Ridge Addition, submitted by Garver on behalf of owner Bryan Lagaly Homes, LLC for property located on South Kansas Avenue, south of Country Club Drive, north of Southeast 11th Terrace was discussed.

Kansas Farm Bureau pledges $5 million to K-State ag infrastructure plan

ANHATTAN – Kansas Farm Bureau has announced a pledge for the largest donation in its history to support a plan to build and renovate agricultural infrastructure at Kansas State University. KFB officials announced they will provide $5 million over five years to support the K-State College of Agriculture’s Innovation Centers for grain, food, animal and agronomy research, a project totaling $125 million to improve several facilities on the north end of its Manhattan campus.
