“70 Years of Blackness” Documentary Screening with Verda Byrd: 7 p.m. Nov. 15. Newton High School graduate Dr. Verda Wagner Byrd has lived her life as a Black woman, one of the first Black children to be admitted to the Newton Municipal Pool in her childhood - a childhood lived in Newton as a child adpoted by a Black family in the days of segregation.

Class 3A, District 6 Hesston 43, Chapman 22 CHAPMAN – Hudson Ferralez passed for three touchdowns and Tyrone Taylor rushed for three touchdowns as the Hesston Swathers topped the Chapman Irish 43-22 Friday in district play in Chapman. Hesston led 24-14 at the half.

Prairie Doc Perspective: Caring for the Caregiver

Every day in the clinic or hospital I meet extraordinary caregivers. They are the ones who have gone above and beyond the call of duty; sometimes for years at a time. When you ask them how they do it, they shrug and smile. I am not talking about any doctor, nurse, or therapist. I am referring to those who care for and look after their elderly friends and family members. This can be a spouse, adult child, adult grandchild, neighbor, or even a good friend.
