Spirit AeroSystems backs KCC reform bill in quest to bring competitive electric rates to Kansas

TOPEKA — A Spirit AeroSystems executive pleaded with the Kansas Senate to dramatically reform membership and operations of the Kansas Corporation Commission based on an assertion the three-member regulatory body was beholden to interests of utility companies to the detriment of consumers.

As debate has waged in Harvey County over a possible wind energy project in the southwestern portion of the county, construction on a sizeable wind energy project in Marion County started last spring The towers under construction at 100th and Nighthawk Ave. just north of Peabody, are visible on U.S. 50 from about 10 miles away. They are generally 500 foot in height.
