Last week we were walking through a day at our house. Come in and join us as we pick up where we left off. Now that half of the children are off to school, I feel like half of my responsibilities have gone out the door.
A “thrown together” school supply drive by the Newton Kiwanis Club led to not only donated school supplies, but a cash donation to the school system. The Kiwanis Club presented a $300 check and a gift card to the district this week.

The Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute graduated its 20th class of 33 students on Sept. 8 during the KHA Annual Convention and Trade Show in Overland Park.
Gardeners like a challenge and the sense of accomplishment when trying something new. Forcing poinsettias and Christmas cactus to rebloom provides such an opportunity. These plants need 14 hours of uninterrupted darkness each night to set flowers for the winter holidays. Starting between late September and October 1st, cover or move your plants into a dark location each night. Shield them from any outdoor, street or reading lights that can delay or prevent flowering.
