Ready for Spring: Service lawnmower before winter hits

MANHATTAN — Taking care of a home lawn can be time consuming but rewarding for many homeowners. Kansas State University horticulture expert Ward Upham said as mowing season ends, it is important to service mowers before storing them for winter. “Make sure you drain the gas tank of gasoline- powered engines or use a gasoline stabilizer,” Upham said. “Untreated gasoline can become thick and gummy.”

Hesston College singers to collaborate with Moundridge High School

The Hesston College Bel Canto Singers will cobine with singers from Moundridge High School for a concert Oct. 18 in what is being called a “life-giving” concert. “Making music with local communities is so life-giving as we emerge from COVID restrictions,” said Dr. Russell Adrian, director of the Bel Canto. “The students in Moundridge have been tremendous to work with, and I am looking forward to our ensembles performing together.”

An eye on the environment leads Ediger to create new art form

The work now on display in Bethel College’s Regier Art Gallery represents what is very likely a new genre. Glen Ediger’s exhibit “Environmental Exposure” opened in the gallery Sept. 30. The artist reception will be Oct. 7 as part of Bethel’s Fall Festival. Reception hours are 6-8 p.m. at the gallery in Luyken Fine Arts Center, and there will be extended gallery hours during the day Saturday, Oct. 8. Regular hours are Mon.Fri., 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 p.m.
