Car show, cruise on deck for this weekend
This weekend will be the 20th Newton Car Show, under new management for the second time.This year is the first that the car show, one of the largest in the state, will be managed by the Community Chaplain Response Team.“It is an extremely big project, with that said, the car show folks that ran it for the last five years said ‘listen, we would just like to enjoy the car show and participate that way.’ The thought was because they gave to the nonprofits in the area, what better place to turn it over too,” said Larry Alexander, member of the Community.

Mission fund-raiser coming this weekend
If car show aficionados find themselves hungry during the Newton Car Show Saturday, and wanting to walk about a block away from the show for lunch, New Jerusalem Mission at 209 East Broadway Street, will welcome them for barbecue from 11:30 a.m.

Arboretum to host annual sale
Gardeners and landscapers looking for drought-tolerant, pollinator friendly plants native to the area have an option to find what they are looking for this weekend at Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesson.The 2024 FloraKansas Spring Native Plant Days will be April 26 to 29.FloraKansas is the Dyck Arboretum’s largest fundraiser each year, with a sale in late April and again in early September.The Dyck Arboretum of the Plains is a 29-acre public garden and arboretum located in Hesston and owned by Hesston College.“Many insect species require a specific host plant or group of plants to feed their young.
