AUGUSTA — The Kansas Cannons scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to get by the Newton Sluggin’ Rebels 3-2 Tuesday night in Jayhawk League play in Augusta. Before the runs in the 10th inning, the Sluggin’ Rebels defense had 18 straight scoreless innings.

Thomas E. “Tom” Ratzlaff, 69, died at his Newton residence on May 31, 2023. He is survived by his wife Donna of the home and Brother Timothy “Tim” Ratzlaff of Newton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, inlaws and friends. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday June 17th at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton with Pastor Donna Voteau and Pastor Tonya Ramer-Wenger presiding. Visitation with the family will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at the church. A full obituary will be published soon.
