Bethel suffers serious setback at Southwestern

WINFIELD – The Bethel College men’s basketball team suffered some serious damage to its hopes for a repeat as KCAC champions, falling to Southwestern 66-61 Thursday in Winfield. The loss was Bethel’s second straight, falling to third place in the KCAC.

Slade looks to build tradition with Railers

Newton USD 373 introduced Monday night incoming high school head football coach Greg Slade at a reception held at the Newton High School auditorium. Slade spent 15 years as the head coach at Rose Hill High School from 1998 to 2013, winning the Class 4A state title in 2011 and reaching the state title game in 2004.

White House methane plan funds orphan well cleanup, rewards reduced farm emissions

The federal government will provide $1.15 billion this year to help states cap defunct oil and gas wells, the White House said Monday, as part of a broad plan to reduce methane emissions. The government-wide methane reduction plan comes about two months after President Joe Biden joined a pledge at the United Nations Climate Conference in Scotland to reduce methane emissions by 30 percent by 2030.
