GOP hopes to save plan to limit Kansas agencies’ regulations

TOPEKA (AP) — Top Republicans hope to revive a proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution that would make it easier for the GOP-controlled Legislature to overturn state agencies’ regulations. The House voted 80-33 this week to approve the measure, leaving supporters four votes short of the two-thirds majority needed for passage.

Kansas man pleads guilty in death of 3-year-old daughter

KANSAS CITY (AP) — A man has pleaded guilty to killing his 3-year-old daughter, whose body was found in a wooded area of Kansas City, Kansas, in July 2020. Howard Jansen III, 30, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder, three counts of aggravated endangerment of a child, one count of abuse of a child and one count of interference with law enforcement, KSHB-TV reported.

Amish Cook: Breakfast is the Whole Enchilada

Breakfast menus are on my hit list. What is better than fresh, steaming pancakes or buttery biscuits straight from the oven topped with sausage gravy? My mom had a breakfast specialty: Gold Rush Brunch, which she would make with layers of scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese sauce and shredded potatoes. Then there were those rare occasions when we children cheered with delight when she made an egg in a nest for each of us. Some morning we had homemade or store boughten cereals. To us, homemade chocolate cake and chopped strawberries was a hit with almost any cereal.

Let teachers teach When our teachers are not allowed to discuss and teach the facts of our nation’s history to their students we destroy the very foundations of this democracy; we become not a democratic society but a puppet society. And who pulls the strings? What is it about our history that so terrifies these politicians? We cannot possibly correct what we cannot recognize.
