Stanley Willis Jantz, 80, died March 22, 2022, at his home in Hoisington. He was born September 1941, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Charles and Lila (Hays) Jantz. Stanley graduated from Newton High School in 1959. He married Lana Sue Brooks on May 26, 1963 in Scott City, Kansas. They later divorced.

To any of you who have long days and wish for more to do, I wish you could have been here to watch all the action at our house this last week. It’s not just been action from six young children. We’ve had two work nights for the youth who helped clear out the shop and mulch flower beds and around our pine trees. The church ladies came to help wash walls and windows. Daniel has been putting in new flooring to replace our old chipped one, and the list goes on.

Cold, breezy weather kept times and distances down at the season-opening Newton Invitational track and field meet Friday at Thresher Stadium, but the host Railers were able to still put together some top performances.
VALLEY CENTER – The Newton High School softball team won a nail-biter and won one going away Saturday in the thirdplace doubleheader against Campus at the Valley Center Invitational. The Railers won the first game 3-2 in eight innings and the second game 15-4 in six innings on the 10-run rule.
