There’s a new camp coming to Cross Winds Camp and Conference Center in Hesston, the result of years of work by new residents Ben and Grace Smith. It’s called “Camp David,” a camp program started in 2003 in the Ozarks that grew from 18 to 200 campers before going international.
The Newton Invitational boys’ golf tournament, held Thursday at Sand Creek Station, featured one of its largest fields in recent years with 16 teams and 102 players. The host Railers finished in the middle of the pack, tying for ninth.

An extra day off because of the weather didn’t hurt the Newton High School softball team much as the Railers claimed a sweep of Salina South Thursday in AV-CTL I play at Kelsch Field. Newton won the first game 7-0 and the nightcap 3-2.
SALINA – The Newton High School boys’ tennis team claimed a second-place team finish along with a doubles title Tuesday at the 13th Mustang Classic in Salina. Andover downed Newton 55-45 for the team title.
