Northridge Elementary Sshool Students enrolled in the Newton Weekday Bible School program were recognized during a program at St Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2001 Windsor Drive, April 19. About 50 students from the elementary school attend the Weekday Bible School program.

Lula Mae (Downen) Frey was born to Orvie and Gracie Downen February 19th, 1946 in Hutchinson Kansas. Died April 18th, 2022 in Holton Kansas. Graduated Newton High School 1964 and attended York College. Married Ralph A Frey February 13th, 1971.
Ellen Marguerite Lehman Klover, age 88, died April 14, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital with her family by her side. Ellen Klover was born August 12, 1933 in Halstead, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Ada McFarlane Lehman.

The Newton High School baseball team had to overcome a big inning in each game to claim a non-league doubleheader sweep of Salina Central. Newton won each game 10-9.
The Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team retained its title at the Jayhawk Conference Championships Monday and Tuesday at Sand Creek Station. The Blue Dragons finished the eight-team tournament with a team score of 852, winning the title by 29 strokes over Garden City Community College.
