The Denver University women’s golf team had a record-setting and dominant performance at the 40th Summit League Championships Sunday through Tuesday at Sand Creek Station. The Pioneers had a team score of 871, a conference tournament record, and a win over Oral Roberts by 21 strokes.

Railer soccer squad falters in second half

The Newton High School girls’ soccer team played a strong first half, but the Derby Panthers picked up the pace in the second half to claim a 3-1 win Tuesday in AV-CTL I play at Fischer Field. “We were able to play very well all around in the first half,” Newton coach Scott Jantzi said.

Dragons split road twinbill with Cheney

CHENEY – The Halstead Dragon baseball team went on the road Monday to claim a non-league split against Cheney at the Cheney Sports Complex. Halstead won the first game 8-5 and dropped the second game 14-13 in eight innings. “We’ve been doing that a lot,” Halstead coach Danny Driskill said. “We’ve split every one except one. We did well to fight back (in the second game). It’s just one of those things. Baseball is baseball. It seems like game ones have gone our way and game twos have gone like those tonight.”
