Dear Doctors: I’ve been seeing a lot of news stories lately about people who thought they had irritable bowel syndrome, but then it turned out to be something called “SIBO.” I’ve never heard of that before. Can you please explain what it is? How do you know if you have it? Can it be cured?

Keith Sprunger, 87, of North Newton, Kansas, died on April 24, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, following a winter of declining physical health. Keith LaVerne Sprunger was born March 16, 1935, in Berne, Indiana, to Arley and Lillian (Mettler) Sprunger.

Railers rally for split at Campus

HAYSVILLE – It was not your ordinary day of baseball for the Newton Railers Tuesday in an AV-CTL I twinbill against Campus at Plagens Carpenter Park in Haysville, but it was a split. Newton lost the first game 5-0, but rallied in the second game with an 11-run fifth inning to win 17-7 in five innings on the 10-run rule.

HAYSVILLE — The Newton High School softball team had another close game and another blowout, claiming a second sweep of the Campus Colts this season. The Railers stopped Campus 6-1 in the first game and 16-0 in four innings in the second game Friday at the Southlake Softball Complex in Haysville.

EL DORADO – The Newton High School girls’ track team finished fifth, while the boys were sixth Friday at the El Dorado Invitational at the BG Products Stadium. The meet was called because of weather with two events remaining for both the boys and girls.

Defense shines in Butler Grizzlies football spring game

Defense felt two steps ahead on Sunday as the Butler Grizzlies held their annual Purple & White spring game at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. Chance Omli returned an interception 37 yards for their only score of the day but with traditional scoring, points for the defense would be tough to come by.
