TOPEKA — More than half the counties in the state rely on 10 or fewer families to take in foster children. Roughly one-tenth of the counties in Kansas rely on one licensed foster home each.
I have recently enjoyed participating with a grass roots group called Faith Voices for Medicaid Expansion. It is amazing to see how many individuals and groups have taken action to achieve this goal for our state. Legislative leadership prevented Medicaid Expansion from even having a hearing this year, even though almost 80% of Kansans support it.

WICHITA — After 14.1 straight innings of no-hit ball for Newton pitcher Tegan Livesay in the post season, an opponent finally got to her. Isabella Rollo hit a solo home run to left field with one out in the bottom of the seventh to lead Basehor-Linwood to a 1-0 win over the Railers Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 5A state softball tournament at Wilkins Stadium in Wichita.
WICHITA — The Newton High School track teams claimed a title in the first events of the day Friday in the Class 5A state track and field championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. Senior Hayley Loewen won the triple jump in 35-11 ¼.
