IVAN G. RATZLAFF

Ivan G. Ratzlaff, 94, formerly a campus resident of Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia. On April 19, 1928 Ivan was born at Meno, Oklahoma to Walter E. and Alice (Unruh) Ratzlaff. They preceded him in death. In 1950 Ivan and Elizabeth “Betty” Black were united in marriage. They became parents of three children: Charlotte Ratzlaff of Pacifica, CA, Suzanna (Rick) Smith of Madison, WI and Dan Ratzlaff of Barboursville, VA; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Betty preceded Ivan in death.

The importance of being an informed voter

Writing my first two opinion pieces where I talked about the importance of voting and being an informed voter has led to several discussions. Some people agree with my assessment of the current state of political affairs – some people disagree. But in either instance, I always enjoy it when people have taken the time to stop and talk about something I’ve written.
