Newton drops a close one, a blowout to Hutch

For six innings, the Newton Sluggin’ Rebels were solid. Things fell apart in the top of the seventh when the Hutchinson Monarchs sent 19 batters to the plate to score 15 runs and claim a 16-3 win Monday night in Sunflower Collegiate League play at Klein-Scott Field.

The most important vote of our lifetime

The most important vote of our lifetime will occur on August 2nd. By voting YES on the Value Them Both Amendment, collectively, each of our votes can save thousands of lives in the years to come. As one of your Kansas Legislators who supported sending this amendment to the people for the vote, let me clarify exactly what this amendment does:

A powerful god

There is a god here in the US more powerful than the Christian God, the Jewish God, the Muslim God, the Native American God; more powerful than any god that came before it. With this god at his side the most insignificant of humans becomes a religious avenger, reeking death upon the perceived unworthy. This god is powerful, pervasive, omnipotent. It has seized our land, our lives, our very souls. And, we fall to our knees in humble fear and worship the Gun God.

Legacy of the Kansas Constitution

Our Kansas Constitution was written in 1859, as a prelude to the Civil War. The controversy of being a free or slave state was on everyone’s mind. The framers of the Kansas Constitution most likely meant what our Kansas Supreme Court meant it to be. Why our current Legislature seems to think that unelected officials should not have a say in our laws but accept their national decisions is hypocrisy.
