HopeFest, an annual event sponsored by the the Harvey County Resource Council, was hosted in the gymnasiums of the Newton Recreation Commission on July 23. The county wide event highlights resources for everyone while offering activities, games, food and giveaways.

DERBY — Bailyn Sorensen kept the post-season hopes alive for the Newton Sluggin’ Rebels with a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 4-3 win over the Derby Twins in the consolation semifinals of the Sunflower Collegiate League tournament at Panther Field in Derby.
