HAYSVILLE — The Newton Sluggin’ Rebels have come a long way since last year, but still have a ways to go, falling to the Haysville Aviators 14-6 Monday night in the consolation finals of the Sunflower Collegiate League post-season tournament at Vulcan Field in Haysville.

Harvey County Wind Project makes sense for Harvey County

I know there has been much discussion about the changes a wind project would bring to the community and for that, it’s important to focus on facts. The fact is, this project is expected to generate $65 million in additional tax revenue for Harvey County during the life of the project.

Dale Jost (born Marvin Dale Jost), 77, of Hesston, KS, passed away on June 22, 2022. A private burial service was held at French Creek Cemetery near Hillsboro, KS. Friends and family are welcome to a celebration service on August 13, 2022 at 10:30AM in Wichita, KS at Ridgepoint Church to honor the Lord for a life well lived.

Wilma Ruth Harms

Wilma Ruth Harms of Newton was born on June 2, 1924 to Isaac and Emma Balzer and died on July 24, 2022 at the age of 98. She was the youngest of five children, growing up on a farm in rural Whitewater. She was baptized on June 1, 1944 at Grace Hill Church where she was an active lifelong member.

Treaster falls at worlds ROME — Newton High School wrestler Nick Treaster fell in first-round action of the U17 Greco-Roman World Championships Monday in Rome. Wrestling at 55 kilograms (121.25 pounds), Treaster fell to Halil Cinar of Turkey 7-0 in the round of 16.
