Gallery winding down 150th celebration
The Carriage Factory Gallery is wrapping up a celebration of Newton’s Sesquicentennial - the final exhibition in a series featuring Newton artists is currently on display at the gallery. Called Humble Beginnings, Mario Garcia’s paintings will be on display through Oct. 15.
Railer soccer team takes down 5A power
VALLEY CENTER — Earlier in the week, the Newton High School boys’ soccer team took care of a Class 4-3-2-1A power. Thursday on the road, the Railers took on a Class 5A power, stopping Valley Center 4-0 in non-league play in Valley Center.

Bethel to host McPherson to open KCAC play
The Bethel College got a little bad news after last week’s 51-0 win over Atlantis University last week. The NAIA listed the second- year program as non-approved due to accreditation status, so what was supposed to be the season opener will go down as an exhibition game.
